Dakar, Senegal — December 22, 2025: DP World Foundation, the philanthropic arm of global ports and logistics giant DP World, has completed a major education initiative in Senegal supporting more than 1,300 students in the municipalities surrounding the new Port of Ndayane. The programme strengthens the Foundation’s long-term commitment to improving access to quality learning environments across Senegal.
As part of its broader community investment in the country, the Foundation renovated three schools, built new libraries, provided classroom furniture, and distributed back-to-school kits to students in Popenguine-Ndayane, Yenne, and Kholpa (Commune of Diass). The improvements aim to enhance learning conditions, support teachers and ensure students in underserved areas have safe, inspiring and well-equipped spaces to learn and thrive.
DP World is currently developing the Port of Ndayane, the largest single private investment in Senegal’s history, to create new economic opportunities for the region and deepen Senegal’s role as a West African logistics hub. Construction is currently underway. In total, 1,361 students benefited from the upgrades, including 467 at Popenguine-Ndayane, 678 at Yenne and 216 in Kholpa.
Latifa Al Qemzi, Director General of DP World Foundation, said: “Our mission is to ensure that communities touched by DP World’s operations have the tools and opportunities to thrive. By improving these schools, building new libraries, and supporting more than 1,300 students with essential learning materials, we are investing in the next generation and strengthening the social fabric surrounding the Port of Ndayane. Quality education is the cornerstone of sustainable development, and we remain committed to empowering students and supporting municipalities as they build brighter futures.”
Throughout the implementation phase, the Foundation team were on ground in Dakar overseeing renovation, managing school kit distribution, and joining the opening ceremonies across the three municipalities.
The programme is part of DP World Foundation’s mission to uplift communities through education, particularly in regions connected to DP World’s infrastructure projects. By aligning social impact initiatives with the development of the Port of Ndayane, the Foundation is helping ensure that local communities share in the social and economic opportunities the new port will bring.
